Watch Yellowstone season 5, episode 10: release date, time, channel, and plot

After almost two years, the Dutton family is back on prime-time TV with Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2. Despite the break, the show remains a huge hit. The premiere attracted 16.4 million viewers across cable and CBS, a 3% increase from the 15.9 million viewers of Season 5, Part 1.

Before the premiere, the big question was how Taylor Sheridan, the creator, would handle Kevin Costner’s exit as John Dutton. Sheridan quickly addressed this by writing off John Dutton, the family’s head. Although John is gone, his presence will still influence the story, as the season focuses on the impact of his tragic end.

What happened to John Dutton?

In the premiere of Season 5, Part 2, Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) visit their father’s mansion. To their shock, they discover that John has passed away. They find his body in the bathroom with a pistol nearby, and the authorities label his death as a suicide. Beth is convinced her father didn’t take his own life. Later in the episode, her doubts are confirmed. It is revealed that Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), Jamie’s manipulative girlfriend, planned John’s murder. She hired hitmen and instructed them to stage the scene to make it look like a suicide.

With Kevin Costner leaving, many fans believed Yellowstone would end after Season 5, Part 2. This seemed like the obvious conclusion. However, the show’s record-breaking ratings for its premiere suggest that Yellowstone could continue even without Costner.

There are talks about a potential sixth season, with stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reportedly in discussions. For now, the series’ future depends on creator Taylor Sheridan’s decision.
